Naptown to NOLA is a funky, majickal love letter to Annapolis, MD and New Orleans, LA, and to communities everywhere that lead with love. The passion project of songwriter, producer, guitarist, bassist & banjoist Papa Lebas (aka Jeff Muller), the album grew outta the rich New Orleans mujickal soil. It's an earthy gumbo of funk, R&B, jazz, blues, zydeco, Cajun, brass band, and more, with stories drawn from history, mystery, and the real life experiences Papa Lebas had with some incredible people, including Allen Toussaint, Art Neville, and Eva Cassidy.
Among its 63 performers, the album features such notable mujicians as Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Bill Summers, Chubby Carrier, Tommy Malone, Ron Holloway, Tommy Lepson, Deacon John, Leroy Jones, Tricia Boutté, Louis Michot, Ian Neville, Shannon Powell, Raymond Weber, Johnny Vidacovich, Russ Broussard, Dave Easley, and many more.

I wrote this blues-based good-time song for my wife, a hard-working mother of two who often will come home exhausted but finds rejuvenation when she can get out to hear--and dance--to great live music. I'm joined on the track by some incredible friends, including Michael McHenry (vocals), Daryl Davis (piano), Chris Watling (sax), Kevin Cordt (trumpet), and Matt Tebo (drums).
This song speaks to our current political climate and the upside down nature of a world where "truth" has become untethered to any objective reality. I'm joined on this by some amazing friends, including Tommy Lepson (vocals & B3 organ), Mark Wenner (harmonica) and Matt Tebo (drums).
